The canopy is thin and crystal clear (better than the real aircraft) and after masking with the supplied masking will show off the cockpit beautifully open or closed!
The resin is superb providing a super Brassin seat that was the highlight of my SU-7 build as well as a wonderful front wheel mudguard and the flare dispensers for the spine. It’s really going to add value to the model and is all in the box under one reasonable price!
The Brass is as ever from Eduard sublime with a range of additional parts that will finesse the model and of course the pre-painted cockpit that’s ideal for this scale. Indeed the colour etch parts at least on their fret look incredible and when added to the resin seat and the kit cockpit should look fantastic. Some may consider this ‘cheating’ but any one that has ever used brass etch of any sort will know it’s a serious skill and to be done properly takes a lot of practice. So my view it’s not cheating its model engineering and it’s a worthy addition to our hobby and its future. Eduard keep it up, I really can’t wait to get at it on this kit and see if it lives up to the promise.
Colour options…
Like the SU-7 before it the colour options for this Frogfoot are not only plentiful but also imaginative. Just look at that Navalised Frogfoot and the Czech version with teeth and gills! The placement diagrams are superb and the painting is based on Gunze colours but there’s no difficulty in converting these to other ranges to suit your preference.
Decals…
The decals are superb. They are in register and accurate in colour and language. They include a plethora of stencils and when placed on a high gloss finish and then matted down will look incredible whatever choice you make.
Conclusion…
I love what Eduard is doing with these kits bringing older stuff to life and the challenges that presents but then adding outstanding state of the art additions is brass and resin that really enables even a beginner can make into a fabulous model.
Subject to build of course but even now I say buy one of these kits they don’t disappoint and require modelling skill not just assembly. I love them and will be building each as they come out (Geoff and Dave to note hands off!)
